setting goals and outcomes

What are your wildest dreams? What do you want your life to be like in the not-too-distant future?

How often do you find yourself daydreaming about what life could be like, of the amazing life adventures you would love to have?

We all want life to be an amazing adventure and for every one of us, there is so much that we can fill our life with to make this possible. Yes, there are always challenges, and with the right beliefs, we find these easier to overcome.

Some of you may never have really thought about what you want – I certainly know that was true for me in the past. And even if you don’t know what you really want yet, I am sure you know what you don’t want.

Life is becoming more challenging right across the world in so many ways. So now, more than ever, it is important for us to have the right kind of focus and beliefs; to focus on creating your life exactly the way you want it to be. Now’s the time to get really clear about your outcomes and align with the things you want to create in your life.

You may have heard of The Secret, which is based on the idea that thoughts become things, by Asking, Aligning and Receiving with Gratitude. Well, that is what I am inviting you to begin today.

Ok, so let’s start with daydreaming…

Asking is about getting really clear about what you want, and why you want it. It’s about taking the time to think about what it will give you in your life. Are you sure it is what you want? Are you definitely sure? What will happen if you get it? What will happen if you don’t?

Once you are sure, describe it as best you can, in as much detail as you can, focusing on what you want to achieve, however crazy, or wild it appears to be. Just dare to dream, without limiting yourself to what you currently think is possible, or how it is going to happen. Once you can describe it in detail, that’s when you can start to bring it to life. To see the pictures in your mind and the future you once you have your amazing outcome.

Now for the important part… you need to ask your unconscious mind to help you achieve this amazing outcome in a way it understands.

We all have something called the Reticular Activating System (RAS). It heightens your perception and your ability to see things. Your RAS is always working, regardless of what your conscious mind is focused on, so giving it some good pictures to focus on, will mean you start to notice more of the things which can help you to achieve your amazing outcome.

Imagine you have already achieved it. You are there, living your life, exactly as you want it. Make it really vivid in your mind and imagine it as a movie scene of your life. You know, that third scene in the movie, when everything is just perfect!

Focus on what you see, hear, do, and feel, that tells you that you have achieved it. Smile as you look at the future you. Take the time to really bring it to life and see just how amazing it feels to have it. Look around you and see how all those who are important to you are there.

But surely, it’s not possible, is it?

In order to align with the life we want to create, we need to remove the things which will prevent us from having it if we don’t deal with them. Those little thoughts which pop into your head when you think about your amazing outcome. You know, the ones which tell you why you can’t have it. We all have them, and they can be described as limiting beliefs.

Limiting beliefs affect our thoughts, the meaning we give to things and how we behave. They create a self-fulfilling prophecy making it impossible to achieve our dreams. So, as you think about your amazing outcome, take note of what pops up in your mind. What are the reasons and excuses you tell yourself for why you can’t achieve your dreams? What are the reasons you don’t already have it? Removing these blocks is essential to opening opportunities to achieve our outcomes.

Another essential step is to set your amazing outcome as a future memory. It will enable your unconscious mind to begin working on it for you, 24 hours a day. This means whatever you are doing, your mind will be looking out for the resources you need to enable you to achieve it. Visualisation is a great tool to help with this and one which I regularly use with my clients.

So, I invite you to get dreaming! In the meantime, remember to enjoy what you have right now. Find gratitude in your life today. I know this can be difficult when the world is a challenging place. Take time each day to make a list if that helps. Jot down whatever comes to mind, however big, or small.

Take care
