key ingredients for success

People have all the resources they need to succeed and achieve their outcomes.

This was a bit of a revelation to me when I first started studying NLP. How was that possible? How could all the resources I need already be there, within me?

Knowing that we have the resources is the starting point; Being able to discover what resources we need from within ourselves to help with our success is an incredibly powerful tool to have. Think if it as being a bit like going into the library to find the books that will help you.

What do you need to really go for it this year, to achieve you goals and outcomes, and to flourish as an NLP coach? Sometimes it’s not obvious and we need to dig a bit further to uncover what resources are really going to make the difference.

This exercise takes just two simple questions and a small amount of reflection time, which hopefully you may be able to find during this week, as it’s well worth it!

The first question is ‘what do I need, that I don’t currently have, or need more of, to be able to achieve my outcomes for this year’?

Allow your subconscious to surface the words rather than overthinking it, by doing something that allows your brain to switch off once you have asked the question (chores or driving work well for me)!

If you find it easier, you can visualize your outcome as a movie scene, with you in the starring role; what do you have in this movie which is enabling you to succeed?

Once you have the resource or resources, write them down at the top of the page in your journal or notebook.

Then you are ready to ask the second question, which is ‘what would I be doing differently to help me achieve my outcomes if I had (insert resources)’?

Write down what surfaces in your mind, without judgement, filtering, or questioning. You may be surprised about some of the things you write down, which is great; it means your mind is opening up to potential opportunities available to you!

Once you have your list, pick one thing that you are going to commit to doing first and take action towards it immediately. If you put it off, you are most likely to not end up doing it and the more you use the resources you have identified, the more you will feel able to use them

Let me know how you get on; I would love to know what resources you are going to help you achieve success!

Take care,

Jo
